Got questions?

You're not the only one

If you're thinking about coming along to a Bible Conversation in Teesside, it's completely normal to have a few questions first.

Here are some straightforward answers to help you decide if it's right for you.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know anything about the Bible before I join?

The purpose of Bible Conversations: Teesside is to create a space where you can explore the Bible with fresh eyes – no background knowledge is needed. It’s made for those who are new to the Bible or getting to grips with it.

There’s no prep or pre-reading required for any of the sessions either.

Do I need to bring anything?

Nope. There’s no need to bring anything – we’ve got plenty of copies of Luke and Acts for you to follow along when you attend, so you don’t need to worry about bringing a Bible with you.

You’re welcome to bring a friend along if you fancy it, though.

What if I have questions before the session?

Once you’ve signed up via Eventbrite, your Bible Conversation group host will make sure you have all of the information you need – and they’ll provide contact details for you to get in contact with them if you have any questions ahead of the session.

Who leads the Bible Conversation?

Bible Conversations are hosted by churches in Teesside – but they don’t always take place in churches.

Whether they’re in a local cafe, pub or church hall, each session will have two hosts in attendance. They’re there to ask the questions, keep the conversation on track and make sure it’s a positive environment for all.

Do I have to contribute to the conversation?

There’s absolutely zero pressure to contribute.

The main thing is that you feel comfortable and relaxed. And don’t worry: you won’t be put on the spot with any tricky Bible questions or asked to read the Bible aloud if you don’t want to.

That said, this is designed as an open discussion, so we hope everyone feels confident to share their thoughts on the story – there are no right or wrong answers here.

Is there pressure to come back or commit to all four sessions?

Nope. The whole point of Bible Conversations: Teesside is that it’s zero-pressure. Turn up to a session and see what you make of it. If you like it, see you at session two.

What’s the benefit of reading the Bible together?

The Bible’s a big book. And it can be tricky to get your head around.

But that’s where Bible Conversations come in.

Reading the Bible with others gives you the chance to see the text from different perspectives: to discover how two people see the same set of words through their own unique lens. And it will show you firsthand how our life experiences shape how we approach a text and what we might take away from it.

What happens at the end of the sessions?

Think of a Bible Conversations as a taster session for the Bible. It'll wrap up at the end of the four sessions.

But if you’re enjoyed your time and you want to keep exploring the Bible in community, speak to your hosts and they can keep you in the loop of other suitable events.
